important than the material situation. Materially, Black has the advantage, but
this is more than compensated for by the extraordinary activity of White queen
and the poor position of Black king. Secondly, it shows that this principle
(like any other!) cannot be adhered to dogmatically. The position of Black
bishop in the corner turns out to be better than a much more active position in
the centre of the board! A great advantage of the study is the absence of
tedious side lines. Everything is clear and straightforward!} 1-0

Is there anything Polish this German composer hasn't won? I don't how many Polish women he won (I hope his Polish wife doesn't know it either) but I know for sure that it is his 4th win in the Polish Chess Federation tourney.

Эта миниатюра хорошо показывает, как составляются этюды.

На первом этапе, авторы придумали примитивную идею с жертвой ладьи на e3 и ее взятием ферзем, а не пешкой.
На следующем этапе нашли, как добавить и сбросить черного слона ради недостижимого пата. Весь замысел все еще остается слабым и малоинтересным. Но материально черные стали сильнее, поэтому белый ферзь должен точно маневрировать и создавать сильные угрозы. Маневрируем...
Наконец, в маневрах мы нашли, что слона можно завлечь на е5 и эту находку используем, чтобы реализовать логическую комбинацию.

В итоге, получили красивый логический этюд, о котором даже не думали в начале. Начальная идея с попыткой игры черных на пат осталась в другом неинтересном варианте, хотя авторы его записали вторым главным. Наверное, только потому, что с него все начиналось.

Короче, рецепт состаления такой: сначала занимаемся ерундой, двигаем фигуры, а потом находим что-то ценное.

The fact that an expected surprise (Bc3) appears already in the logical try 1. Qc2 ? Rbe1 2. Qb3 Bc3 seems to be a very serious flaw of this study.

The logical try should be 1. Qc2 ? Rbe1 2. Qd3 (a natural move instead of the artifical Qb3) Kg1! and now the move 2... Bc3 has no sense. .
